Muhammadu Buhari: 5 people who deserve positions in President’s government

Rate it :
Nigerians are currently waiting on President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint advisers and members of cabinet to kick-start his administration.
The President has only officially appointed three members of staff and one of them, media aide, Garba Shehu has urged Nigerians to exercise patience with Buhari as the process of making vital appointments can’t be rushed.
In the meantime, here are five people who deserve to serve in the new President’s administration.

  1. Babatunde Fashola: The former Lagos State Governor has been credited with transforming Nigeria’s commercial hub. Due to the successes of Fashola’s administration, many Lagosians were sad to see him leave when his tenure expired. Buhari is said to already be considering him for the Chief of Staff position.
  2. Obiageli Ezekwesili: The former Minister of Education is a symbol of strength and integrity; exactly what the Buhari administration needs to carry out the change Nigeria so desperately needs. Dr Ezekwesili is a co-founder of Transparency International and was recently named as one of TIME’s most influential 100 people in the world for her persistence in demanding for the rescue of the missing Chibok girls.
  3. Donald Duke: The former Cross River State governor is credited with giving tourism a face in Nigeria. Duke initiated the Tinapa Resort project as a way to boost business and tourism in his state. The annual Calabar Carnival also gained international recognition during his tenure.
  4. Nuhu Ribadu: Despite defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nuhu Ribadu seems to still be as averse to corruption as he has always been. The former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) recently called on PDP lawmakers-elect to embrace transparency in their duties for the good of the country.
  5. Kayode Fayemi: The former Governor of Ekiti State would be an asset to the Buhari administration due to his wealth of experience in the areas of governance and democratization. He is also reportedly being considered for the Chief of Staff position.
