News reaching us from the Vatican says Pope Francis will be hosting Children of prisoners from Rome, Latina, Bari and Trani.
Vatican sources say the Pope will also go on a train ride with the kids. They say it is a way of showing by, example, what Christ instructed Christians to do (take care of prisoners and the poor).
The Children will also have a a mid-day meeting with the Pontiff, where they will be given kites.
Speaking on the significant of kites, Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, said “This is the symbol of possible passage from inside the prisons where the mothers live to the outside, the land of families.”
Later
this year, on Nov 6th, the Pope is slated to celebrate the Jubilee
Year, a time for prisoners to dine with the Pope at St. Peter’s
Basilica.
